 Specification:

Body shop - Circa 2,700m² of a Type 3 high build epoxy coating system including 700m² pump screed overlay

Wash bay - 270m² Type 8 heavy duty polyurethane screed

The Brief

To provide a hard-wearing system able to withstand vehicular traffic including clear demarcations for various uses. The client also requested a suitable anti-slip finish which could be easily cleaned regularly.

The Arturo epoxy resin flooring system was chosen to create a hard-wearing, seamless and slip-resistant surface, which is guaranteed for many years.

    Floor preparation

    Unfortunately, a troublesome area was highlighted in the original site survey, which were related to issues during the construction phase that had resulted in circa 700m² of weak, friable concrete to repair. A heavy shotblast was required to remove the majority of the damaged substrate with us also using Pcd tooling to remove any remaining loose material.

    The process

    Working alongside Uzin Utz Group, a specification was put forward consisting of PE425 penetrating primers & epoxy primer coat with a full scatter before applying NC770 industrial top screed. This was finally finished off using Arturo NL, a brand of Uzin Utz Group epoxy coatings throughout the whole project.

    Whilst on site we also attended to a second smaller section, this area had a rough surface texture unsuitable for a cleaning bay environment. The same primer application was used before installing Uzin PU5500 heavy duty polyurethane screed.

    The final result

    The whole project was complete over 10 days during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic which resulted in the teams commuting to and from the project daily; putting extra pressure on the work force – by working efficiently, we were able to complete all works on time, further strengthening our relationship with the client and ensuring future works.
